the closer we come to seeing the whole picture. But the Brazil Site Project also leaves some questions unanswered, and even brings up some new ones. By preserving this site and others like it, we give future archaeologists with even better methods the chance to answer these questions.
It is important that we protect and preserve our nation's cultural resources and the scientific, social, educational, and sacred values they contain. Many state and federal laws are designed to provide this protection, but it is equally important that all citizens respect archaeological and historical sites, and leave them undisturbed, wherever they find them. This is important not only to scientists and lovers of history, but to the descendants of these prehistoric people, many of whom still live and work in the surrounding areas. For these descendants, ancient sites like the Brazil Mound are a valuable part of their cultural heritage.
