Company Principals and Staff
Far Western is delighted to announce a new partner in the firm: D. Craig Young, Ph.D. Craig joined Far Western in 1999 as a Geoarchaeologist and now serves as Vice President of Nevada Operations and Director of our Great Basin Branch.
The owners of Far Western, William Hildebrandt, Ph.D.; Patricia Mikkelsen, M.A.; Amy Gilreath, M.A.; Kelly McGuire, M.A.; Kimberley Carpenter, M.A.; and Jeffrey Rosenthal, M.A., and D. Craig Young, Ph.D. are all active professional archaeologists who take a hands-on approach to both project management, as well as the nuts-and-bolts of technical archaeological programs. This philosophy has resulted in a number of outstanding technical reports and publications recognized by both environmental professionals and academic scholars as being at the forefront of American archaeology.
The key to providing consistent, high-quality service begins and ends with the 50 employees comprising the permanent staff of Far Western. This includes 24 Ph.D.- and M.A.-level archaeologists, almost all of whom have been with the company for more than five years. This continuity and emphasis on team solutions minimizes the need for outside consultants or head-hunted project staff. The active project participation of Company Principals in technical programs assures accountability and provides a direct, authoritative liaison to the client or agency manager.
This long-term commitment to quality is exemplified by the President of Far Western, Dr. Hildebrandt, who received the 1996 National Award for Excellence in Cultural Resource Management given by the Society of American Archaeology.
